Date: 2004/08/16

FASHION label Vertigo will be trading models for ballet dancers at this year's Cape Town Fashion Week.
In a bold move, Vertigo, a label for Cape Town-based Platinum Holdings, will be collaborating with the Cape Town City Ballet, who will showcase designs while performing Adele Blank's acclaimed hip-hop inspired urban dance piece, Syzygy.
The show. which is scheduled to open tomorrow, will be a first for city fashion.
"They will be dancing in that amazing urban street gear, which is very conducive to dancing," said Allison Foat, Cape Town City Ballet marketing director.
The dancers will be performing a 22-minute piece from Syzygy, while models weave in, out and around them in the background.
"Everyone is so used to seeing models showing clothing." said creative director for Vertigo Moira O'Reilly.
Foat said that the partnership could prove promising for both companies.
"It's the first time we have done anything like this, and It's all very exciting."
