THE Bergers Group had sold its 17-store clothing
subsidiary Hilton Weiner to independent clothing retailer Marcel Joubert in the face of a rival bid, said Joubert.
Joubert said he had concluded the Hilton Weiner sale with Bergers's controlling shareholder on the same terms and conditions set out in an earlier agreement, which was cancelled ten days ago to avoid jeopardising a bid to save Bergers from liquidation.
Joubert said the sale had saved Hilton Weiner from a rival bid which planned to dismantle the upmarket clothing company and convert it into a chain of factory shops.
